In an effort to free up first responders and vital hospital emergency room resources in addition to providing more mental health services, our office has partnered with the County of Los Angeles and the Department of Mental Health to launch the Therapeutic Van right here in Council District 10.
The year-long pilot program specializes in mobile assistance and transportation for those experiencing serious psychological crises throughout the City of Los Angeles.
Currently there are have been only five Therapeutic Vans, in the County of Los Angeles; positioned at Los Angeles Fire Department stations in Downtown, South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, Southwest Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
Available 24 hours a day, each van is staffed with a Psychiatric Mobile Response Team comprised of a clinical driver, psychiatric technician, and a peer support specialist.
