The Arts matter. The arts have the power to heal, to reimagine, and to unite communities. When we talk about reimagining and reinvesting in a more equitable Los Angeles – there is no tool more powerful to do so than through the arts. Earlier this year, the City Council allocated $88 million to underserved communities. As a part of that effort, Councilmember Ridley-Thomas was able to allocate funds to St. Elmo Village, which is inspiring authentic and creative expression in South Los Angeles and the City at large. A non-profit located in the heart of the 10th District since 1969, St. Elmo Village provides art workshops, festivals, and numerous community programs open to the public.
