On the evening of Thursday, March 27th, 2025, Councilwoman Heather Hutt hosted the first of several Small Business Information Sessions for constituents of Council District 10. The event aimed to provide valuable entrepreneurship guidance and industry insights as the city prepares to host a series of prestigious sporting events in the coming years.

The session offered attendees a deeper understanding of available resources and contracting opportunities for small business owners across the city. Los Angeles is set to be the backdrop for some of the world’s most high-profile sporting events, including the Super Bowl, World Cup, and 2028 Olympics. In anticipation of these events, the Office of Council District 10 is committed to ensuring that local residents are well-prepared to seize new business opportunities and thrive in this evolving landscape.

During the event, Councilwoman Hutt brought together experts in business development and city resources to provide vital industry insights. These discussions, led by well-versed city and nonprofit leaders, encouraged thoughtful dialogue, networking, and strategies for supporting small businesses in the area.

The session featured a diverse group of speakers, including:

  • Erikk Aldridge, Vice President of Impact for LA 2028, who spoke on community business procurement, local hiring, workforce development, and sustainability.

  • Rosa Peñaloza & Cristina Espiritu, Assistant Chief Grants Administrator & Procurement Manager from the Department of Economic & Workforce Advancement and PACE, who discussed programs offering economic development training, career opportunities, technical assistance, one-on-one counseling, and access to capital.

  • Daniel Cho, Senior Management Analyst II, Office of Procurement, who provided insights into RAMPLA (The Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement), the official platform for city and regional contracting opportunities.

  • Melissa Savage, Senior Management Analyst I, Bureau of Contract Administration, spoke about the important of business owners getting their companies certified with the City in order to bid on contracts for the Olympics, Superbowl, World Cup, and other major events.

“These high-profile sporting events will bring significant contracting opportunities to our residents and small business owners, contributing to our economic growth for years to come,” said Councilwoman Heather Hutt. “It’s imperative that the City ensure our communities are ready to capitalize on these opportunities. LA dollars should benefit LA businesses, and this series is designed to help CD10 residents secure their share.”

Councilwoman Hutt remains committed to fostering economic growth and providing resources to the residents of Council District 10. This event underscores her dedication to empowering local communities, supporting small businesses, and promoting professional and personal growth for all.
