AAPI Month

This May, Council District 10 is proud to recognize and celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

As one of the world’s most diverse regions, Los Angeles City is home to more than 1.6 million Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans (AAPIA). LA is a melting pot of different ethnicities and cultures. Generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders have enriched Los Angeles’ history and continue to do so today.

In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM), CD10 has partnered with AAPI LA, CD4 and The Mayor’s office to recognize several AAPI-owned businesses and AAPI business owners impacted by the nearby homeless encampments. Three businesses received certificates of appreciation for their exceptional customer service and for serving the greater Korean community. The businesses were also chosen for their involvement with homeless outreach efforts.

“I am proud to serve as the Councilmember for the residents and businesses of Koreatown  - located right here in the Tenth District,” said Herb Wesson. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we  should do everything we can to support them.”
